Steering wheel w/cruise

I seem to remember someone here saying that the mid to late 70s cars all used bascially the same steering wheel and that the maverick had the wiring in the steering column for cruise control. All you should need is the steering wheel, speedo sensor, control and vacuum unit to put cruise on. If that is all true, will the steering wheel from a late 70s ford truck with cruise work?
