Like Wes said, yes, it could be the t-stat. The first thing I would do is check the sending unit to verify if this was actualy the temp it was running. Since the sending unit is a grounding type unit, that's easy. Just pull the wire off the sending unit and ground it against the block and turn the key to the run position. The guage should go to full hot.

:HI all! I was on a trip in the Mav yesterday, and noticed a wierd and maybe alarming problem. The temp gauge would set at 200 degrees and then move up to 215 and them back to 200, up to 215, and back, and did this all the way home. The level of coolant is good, and the cap holds pressure. Any suggestions on where to look? Could this be a funky thermostat? Thanks in advance for the help.
:Earl
