From a 77 Lincoln shop manual.
..Model PEJ has a 3 plate forward clutch and 3 plate reverse clutch. ..Model PEB has a 4 plate forward clutch and 3 plate reverse clutch. ..Model PEA,PEE,PEF have 5 plate forward clutch and 4 plate reverse clutch. ..The intermediate servo for the C4 used in the 302 application is IDed on the cover as "A" with "R" identifing the 351 application. ..For higher power application and/or parts interchange, the 5 plate unit and "R" servo could be considered in a buildup.
