:KEN,
:HEY THANKS FOR THE INFO ON MY MYSTERY 6. IT SEEMS TO BE A 1963 or 64 240, AS THE CARB IS ON THE RIGHT & THE OIL FILTER IS ON THE LEFT. NOW FOR MY 2ND PROBLEM. THE TRANNY IN THE TRUCK IS AN ANCIENT 3 ON THE TREE. I'VE GOT A REBUILT 1978 C-4 THAT I'D LIKE TO SWAP INTO THE TRUCK. HOWEVER THE BELLHOUSING ON THE TRANNY IS TOTALLY DIFFERENT FROM THE BLOCK OF THE 240. C-4s OF COURSE HAVE REMOVEABLE BELLHOUSINGS, SO MAYBE I JUST NEED A DIFFERENT ONE. I WAS WONDERING IF YOU or ANYONE ELSE HAD ANY INFO IF THIS IS A POSSIBLE SWAP OR NOT.
:THANKS KEN!
:
-LARRY, my info only goes to 68 but sugests that a c4 may have been used in the larger Ford/Mercury cars. There was a number of transmissions used so you need more positive info and ID a c4 in one of these cars to know for sure.
.In addition (don't know weather it's a typo error) the 74 Econoline and F-series trucks list the 240 using the C4 trans. The tags on the trans will read PEA-AG3,AH3,R7,S7. PEA-AN1,J8
Good luck,Ken
