Took the mav to a friends this weekend and got the headers installed. I went ahead and got the manifold and carb on too along with some cragar rims. 255/60/15 rears and 195/60/15 fronts. They went in with no clearance problems in the rear. We did have to trim the traction bars abit near the tire but they fill the well nice and still have room. I installed the weiand single plane manifold - i know its not good on a stock engine but we did it to get rid of the vac leaks on the stock manifold, lemme tell ya i think the manifold that was on it was never removed before. It was a bear to get off. The 600 vac secondary carb was a PITA until we found the fast idle screw then all came together. The advice i got before about the single plane holds true, off idle is abit mushy and comes alive after 3K but it does have enough low end grunt to light the tires up at a full stop. It idles nice tho and seems to transition into RPM from a idle nice with no lag or popping. I will be getting a duel plane soon for it . The headers went in easy enough, one had to be dimpled to clear the tranny case, the other didn't. I believe it was the passenger side was the one that went in from the top, the other from the bottom. I used hedman. I have the 89 roller motor here, gonna wait till i get a 2nd car until i install the engine, for now tho i am gonna switch manifolds, install a mild RV cam and prolly put the 89 heads on the 74 motor, will gimmi time to do the 89 block the way i want and not rush it. Overall tho i gotta say i am IMPRESSED on what headers and a manifold/carb swap can do, along with the rims and a exhaust system thats just headers/mufflers it looks and sounds like a muscle car. It seems to have more "growl" then "bite" now, but the bite will come soon enough
