I wish I could remember..I had my '74 Comet 200 back in '88...I had a similar problem. The tube rusted out. I could swear there was somewhere to get a kit to add an electric choke to that carb. I ended up ordering a replacement tube. The tube connected to a small hole in the manifold.
A more difficult option: Have you thought about getting a later model manifold so you could connect the tube? I remember that once connected, it makes all the difference in the world as far as cold drivability is concerned...good luck! MavMark
