:Hello everyone! I have an interesting question. My 73 Mav has a serious pull to the left when I brake. I have had it aligned, new tires (front and rear) and new shocks in the front. What else could this be. Suspension is all good according to my mechanic and I figure that he would tell me if something was wrong (even if it was just to get some money out of me). I have also been told by a frame shop that the frame is not bent. It pulls a little while driving and there is a shimmy in the wheel starting at about 40mph then lets up at around 50mph. Hope there is enough info here. Thanks in advance.

.JER, you need to get a new mechanic. There may be two problems that need attention. I'm astounded that neither has enough interest in wanting to find your problems. Go to another service facility and have them test drive the car with you along, then ask if they will go through the brakes and look for froze -leaking wheel cylinder, brake shoe not mounted properly, drum out of round, bad hoses etc. All of this is just common sense. It is possible for a front brake problem like an out of round drum to cause a shimmy just the same as a front disc warp can cause the same. A hose that has ruptured through the inner hose and ballons the outer hose can cause an intermitant pull by keeping unevern pressure side to side. Don't be shy about asserting yourself. When you contract for a repair, job's not done till it's satisfactory. Would they be happy with that kind of work on there car? I guess you can tell I have torn a few back sides out in my day.
Good luck, Ken
