Wes; sorry I missed you. I will check my mail out tonight and see. Anyway, bring the #1 piston up to top dead center, with the plug out. Make sure you are on the compression stroke. It will force your finger out of the hole. When at Top Dead Center, take the distributor cap off, and see if the rotor button is pointed to the #1 spark plug wire on the cap. If it is not, you are probably a tooth or so off, one way or another. Remove the distributor, and set it back in, with the rotor pointing at the plug wire. Then, time it up for the advance with a timing light, 6degrees before top dead center, I believe. If it misses then, you may need to look elsewhere, but at least you know the timing is correct. Also, while the cap is off, move the crank pulley and see if there is any slack in the timing chain. If it is, the engine will move before the distributor shaft moves. If it is, then the timing will not set correctly, and could cause a miss. I hope this is clearer, and if not, mail me at home, and I will either call you or get a better way to explain. Take care,
Earl
