:does anyone have any recommendations on which manual transmission i should use in my car without having to make modifications to the car itself? if anyone has any ideas please let me know. right now i plan to put a tremec TKO behind the 351W, but i was told that there might need major modifications to the car itself. please help me decide before i go ahead and do this shift. by the way, right now the car is automatic. ..My source tells me the following, The Tremec is a bolt in for a car equipped with a Ford AOD as far as the trans mount is concerned. That means you will need to make an extended mount off the present cross member as the Tremec mount is located farther back on the tail shaft housing and also farther back than a Ford T5. The Tremec is a bit wider than a T5 so not sure about room in the Mav tunnel. I would select the T5 or even the older 4 speed Ford unit. You will need the brake/cluth pedal assembly and either a Z bar and parts or a cable operation assembly as well as flywheel, clutch and bell housing in any event. There 'may' be drive shaft length to consider. I see no major mods to do other than working out the trans mount.
...There is an addon unit to the C4 that will give you 6 speeds and no mods to be done at all and allow you to run a 3.55 or 3.80 rear and overdrive to boot. Like having your cake and eat it to. Don't know what you want to spend on the manuel setup but could have the 6 speed auto for the almost same money involved.
...There are owners that have these setups. Come on guys, get your opinions in here.
