It's a good buy. Just use all the parts from the car, engine,trans,electronics and you'll have a good setup. The heads are the "Weakest Link" use other HiPo heads and you'll have lots of fun. AOD with all the factory linkage is a piece of cake. Everything is there for you. :I found an 86 Mercury Cougar with a 5.0 in the local Trading Post paper for $300.00... says it runs. It has an AOD tranny and is the roller 5.0 variety. I've done a little bit of research on this engine, and stock it just had 150 ponies. Since it's a "modern" 5.0, how hard would it be to step it up to HO specs? Or would I be better off holding out for a factory HO motor from the boneyard?
