We bought this car in 2009 from the high desert of California off of an ad on RacingJunk.com. This is my 4th Maverick in my 50 years of driving. When it arrived it had non-functional air conditioning, leaking power steering slave cylinder, leaking automatic transmission and a two barrel carburetor on its 302 small block. I removed the automatic, a/c and power steering and replaced the offending parts with manual steering and a '70 Boss 302 Top Loader four speed transmission from my 1st Maverick that I had stored. I got a sweet deal on an Edelbrock manifold and added an Edelbrock carburetor along with a Pertronix ignition, Hooker headers and true dual Flowmaster exhaust. We sold the bench seat & 8" differential to another member here on the board after we installed the '70 Boss 302 9" with 4.11:1 gears and a Trac-Loc center section. The interior had '87 Mustang GT seats for a while but I've since replaced them with Summit Racing poly seats & covers. The ratty stock door panels were replaced with aluminum from Scott Rod Fab.
We replaced the front suspension with Opentracker upper & lower control arms and strut rods. We are finished up installing a new Blueprint Engines 347 with dual quads and a new TKO-600 5-speed transmission and cruised frequently during the summer. Now I recently got the car back from being back-halved with a cage. The rear tire/wheel conbination is 14" wide x 15" diameter with 29 x 18.0R15LT Mickey Thompson S/R Sportsman Radials. I'm undercoating, reinstalling the interior, installing fuel & brake lines and getting ready to cruise this summer!
