The info on top of piston is what lead me to believe that it was bored over .60, however I have yet to get to put a micrometer on it so just wondered if anyone knows make, type and if it is .060 over. In the event it doesn't come out clear it reads: 272AP .060 05-320-02-A Anybody know?

It is .060 over..... It is a Sealed Power cast piston for a Ford inline six..... I did a Google search for the part number, here is the link to Summit http://www.summitracing.com/parts/stl-272ap It also comes up as a 302 piston, they must use the same casting for both.....
ok OK, so for SURE it is .60 over? that's what I wanted to be sure of, also are those a decent piston or just a standard stock type unit?
I wouldn't do it. Cast pistons don't care for nitrous very much. Slight tuning issues.. or one little hiccup at WOT.. will have you shopping for that stroker kit your boy's been wanting so badly. Popped motors are cool to talk about later on.. but getting oil under the car at higher speeds is usually never much fun.
Agree Agreed, I just can't figure what he did to make it a stroker with those pistions, they don't appear to be set up other than a stock rod configuration
Are you really sure it's a 331? What is the stroke? That piston with a 5.155 rod and a little offset grinding would give you a 315. No to nitrous and cast pistons. Find out what the stroke on the crank really is. Then a parts list will come together. Might I also suggest you not start a new thread about every part of the engine? Keep 1 thread going and it will keep people informed on where you are at and what you have found instead of having several different threads about every engine part you look at. SPark
if you do a stroker start with a block that hasnt been bored 60 over already it will save you some headaches later. 60 over is already the LIMIT usually machine shops wont touch motors that been bored that far
Ok No I am not completely sure of the stroke, it was with a tape measure near dark with a flashlight, when I get the motor completely torn down and measure the rods, journals, etc. with proper micrometers I will start a thread with that info........also I know not to start a build with a 0.060 over block, lol
Nothing much to figure out here. There's physically just not enough room in that 8.2" deck height block to run a 3.25 stroke with a 1.585 compression height piston even if they used a stock 5.09" rod length. Simple and rough math tells me that the piston would be about .100 out of the bore. You have a stock 3" stroke motor there.
