The only thing I don't like is that the foam rubber is on the bottom without any protection, so I am going to take a sheet of plastic (probably one of those "Vote For Etc" election signs) and glue it to the bottom. Then it will not only protect the foam, but it will also allow me to slide around on the floor with ease.

3/4-1" thick foam, with carpet glued to the top, and handles cut into it after it is folded in half.

I am sure you could make one at home, if you had the materials.

I paid $30 for this one.

Heck! Even my DOG thinks it is pretty cool!

Throw it on the ground and lay/sit/kneel on it. Keeps you clean and keeps rocks and liquids from getting on you.

Since my car is too low to use a wheeled creeper, I have been using small rugs that you put in front of doors in your house. But they are also used as door mats when I am not working on the car, and one is in front of my toolbox, and one in front of my workbench, so they are grimy, and have metal shavings in them, etc.

This mat will go in my trunk and be used exclusively as my creeper.

I will put thick heavy plastic on the bottom so it will slide better, and the foam rubber on the bottom won't get torn up.

I used to keep an old seat/back cushion from a patio chair in my trunk but you really could fall asleep next to your car laying on that

My old bones would like that ..
I have fallen asleep many times under a car. The feel of cool concrete on my back on a warm day just makes me drowsy lol

I once worked for this gate company where they would send us out in pairs. I was working at a site with the other tech when I found a chair cushion laying on the ground close to where we were working. I went over and grabbed it and put it under my knees as I was working on the gate motor. John (the other guy) proceeds to laugh and make fun.. When we finished I threw it in the bed of the truck and used it all the time. One day they put me in a different truck and John kept the one. I get radioed to go assist him one day. There he is using my pillow :rofl2: He was peeved that I took it when I left.

I have been using an old moving blanket for years when working under a car. Really thick and it is pretty well worn, so you don't car if it gets dirty. Really save the knees and shoulders. I went to Harbor Freight when they had some on sale and bought one, but it was only half as thick as the one I have been using.

I use old cardboard boxes. The big ones like doors come in or refrigerator boxes work best. Long enough you stay off of the floor or grass, and easy to slide your body on.

If I'm going to be on my knees working, I have a set of foam knee pads i bought to use while putting in a hardwood floor. Velcro them around my pants legs and get to it...

I had my sister make some huge pockets inside some overalls so I can slip some foam pads into.

My GF picked up a plastic covered foam excercise mat for me at a yard sale for $1, works great.
