I picked this up today, my first 4 door AND my first Comet. Unfortunately its totally roached out. It has a few desirable parts that I will harvest then its off to the crusher.
Hey Paul, I found the VIN for that 70 in the old thread. I will get it to along with this one over the weekend.
The Comet arrived today and the guy put a new fuel pump on it to get it running. He knows it getting scrapped and fixed it anyway, just so I could move it around the yard. Now its time to start ripping it apart cause its out of here in less than 2 weeks! I will post an ad in the classified section as I get things pulled. There isnt going to be much, but it has a few things worth saving.
Spent a few hours removing usable parts from the Comet today. The underside of the big bumper support had rusted away completely on one side. That is some serious rust. Should have it ready to scrap by weeks end. Parts for sale to come soon. Its amazing how just a few screws and a couple bolts will completely remove the ugly on the front of a Comet! Engine bay before After Underside of bumper. Its a little hard to see, but the far side is gone. Ive never seen the top of a door rust out. Interior, will work in there tomorrow, but not taking much. Took the lights even though they are a dime a dozen.
I thought the big bumper Maverick had a lot room there, but I could build a bookcase on the Comets bumper filler!
It was hard enough for me to take this one apart, I couldnt have done what you did. I hate to give up on a car. The Comet has been stripped of its useful parts, other than the rear end. Going to check with a potential buyer to see if he wants it, then its off to the scrap yard. It was a successful venture.
