Ok guys I know this has been asked a thousand times but I'm going to ask it again! When I buy my Granada manual disc brake set-up do I need to swap out my master cylinder and do I need to swap out the proportioning valve? Thanks for any advice you can give me on this!
I don't believe the car came with a proportioning valve. But a distribution block. If you are buying a kit it may come with the proportioning valve. Mine did. It should go between the distribution block and the line to the rear wheels. Hope that helps.
Swap the master cylinder. It has a larger capacity reservoir for the front discs. Make sure you use the push-rod from the stock master cylinder, as the one the Granada has will make your brake pedal way too high. You can stay with the original distribution block. Just be aware that rear wheel lock-up "may" be more likely. Larger rear tires help in this case. Just re-flare one end of the short lines that connect to the master cylinder, as the fittings are a different size.
I have 4 wheel disc brakes using a US Brake billet disc brake master cylinder but I am also adding a Wilwood brake bias adjuster to the line leading to the rear brakes that I bought from Summit - it will be mounted through the floor somewhere within reach - by turning the knob it will remove some of the rear brakes if needed - I used these valves in every stock car I built and they work great - the photo of the valve is not of mine but very similar
