I bought a complete bumper bolt kit (front and rear) from CJ's Pony parts for a Mustang. Exact kit shipped to my house for $16.99. All I had to do was polish the heads a little more to my liking. But that only took about ten minutes.

Thanks Craig. I didn't know when I was doing it, was how much $$ it would add to the cost of the chrome plating. Because I used a mig welder most all chrome shops would not touch it. Mig is porous. This shop was willing to do it, but they charged me to v out the weld, then tig weld over it. Then smooth and blend. If I knew better up front I still would have done it, but would have just tack welded it, then found a tig and finished it that way.

So it has been quite a while since I have updated my build thread. Last summer and fall I did all the body and paint on a friends Model A pick up, then I decided a winter make over was in order on my 32 Ford. Now that all that is done I am back on my Mav.

I did decide to not use the stock style 5.0 fuel injection. I sold off all the parts I had gathered up and recently purchased this Edelbrock RPM Air Gap intake, and the chrome fabricated valve covers. I think for a little cost saving I will run a carb for a while. I do plan to eventually run a new throttle body style EFI. But for now the carb will do.

I have been working hard lately getting all the unnecessary holes welded up and smoothed out. Here I have everything all primed up….

I did a trial run of the radiator one last time so I could figure out the placement of the over flow catch can…..

And here is the payoff… PAINT !!!

This is the final color. For the engine compartment I am using a matte finish clear as you see here. The car will be the same color but with full gloss.

I wonder if I didn't mention it how many of you would notice what I have done here? I have all shown you before where I filled the cowl as well as the radiator support. But I never showed where I filled the sprayer nozzle indentations in the cowl. With the cowl filled I can't run the stock squirters anymore, so at that point the mounting area became an eye sore.

Next week I will be masking all this off and painting the front frame rails and the cross members in a matte black. Painting everything in the blue while on this dolly would have been impossible. So once it comes off I will paint it all, but I am thinking the contrast off the black will make it look more like a frame and less a part of the front unibody.

Wow, nice work, Glenn! I don't think I have ever seen a color matching matte engine bay before. I can't wait to see how the rest comes out. (y)

I read the entire thread on your project last night. Amazing. Quite an eye opener to have an insider view (with lots of very clear pics) of how and why things are done they way they are, with the knowledge and bag of tricks used to fix them. Please keep posting regular updates.

Glad you enjoyed the build thread. I will continue to post up as things progress. Hopefully you like some, or most of my modifications.
