Ok, I used the search feature and apparently the Taurus fan modification is a common practice…..what is the main goal of removing the belt driven fan and replacing it with electric fan only?

I understand adding an auxiliary electric fan for hot Arizona summer days in slow heavy traffic or when towing a load, but not as the only option. In 115 +/- degree weather I use a regular belt driven fan with a clutch without any overheating.

    it's...

HP gain, constant CFM at any RPM, with the right controller it only runs when needed...safer...:yup:

an easy and cheap mod, with the Volvo controller it's..."set it and forget it".

...LOL...Had the same 351 issue with my Sprint.
The taurus fan mod is more efficient and it pulls alot of cfm compared to aftermarket electric fan setups. Its also very easy to adapt to a mav radiator...

Question... Can you just run a toggle switch instead of a controller id like to do that a 3 way switch(high-off-low) with a Volvo relay or can I run any relay? I need some help in this matter haha

the two speed fan has to be running on low before going to high, that's what the Volvo relay does. you can put it on relays but starting up on high is a heck of a spike...I was popping 75 amp fuses trying it.

Wow, I never would have suspected the inrush current would be that high for a fan. It must spool up very quick. I think I'll put mine on a clean power harness along with my MSD.

I some what fixed the problem by putting it on a...circuit breaker...that way if it did kick out it would reset itself. on the other hand, the Volvo relay was fused with a 20 amp fuse...:yup:

I'm using a Flex-a-lite fan controller to turn on a 75 amp relay.

Yeah, the way I wired it up if the controller calls for cooling and the ignition key is in the ON position the fan runs on high speed. If the key is OFF, say you just parked the car and the controller calls for cooling, low speed turns on.
