Did you ever get that drip to stop? I put 5 quarts in my engine, ran it for 15 seconds to see if it would run, and it drips off the bottom of the bell housing. I can wipe it, and droplets form again. the car sits on jackstands and is slightly lower in the rear, so I think the back of my oil pan leaks at the rear main? I dont drive it yet, it leaks while sitting.

He sold that car! I think the party that bought it wanted the R&C Stang II suspension conversion and parted out the rest of the car...

You should start a new thread but if it's dripping when cold after 15 sec of running, it'll be a gusher once oil warms up...

Could be the rear main seal or a galley plug in rear of block...

It was run 3 months ago, and still has a very slow drip. I am going to run it soon with coolant and let it reach operating temp. I'll will know better after that.

I might be wrong here but the flywheel bolt holes are open on the crank shaft, they will leak also if you don't have any sealant on the threads.

Hmmmmm.....The list of things you learn the hard way is probably the stuff you dont forget.:meh: If it were just the oil pan, where would the oil drip from?

There should not be a high enough level in pan for oil to drip after a couple days, definitely not 3 months...

You sure it isn't the transmission???

Tranny pan is dripping off two bolts and I intend to fix that with a cork gasket, and it is red, of course. The other drip is brown, and I traced it back up the bellhousing an inch or so to the block plate, up the bottom edge of that (inspection cover is not on yet) to a point directly below the part of the oil pan that covers the main. When I got the car, it had no oil filter, and several accessory parts were missing....and I assumed it was dry. It didnt have a dipstick either. SO, I should drain it and see if the 5 quarts I put in were additional to some that were already there? That might explain it.

Nope, never fixed it. And yep, sold the car. Guy parted it out and probably made a good penny off of it.
