depends on what your painting, a body man once told me there is an additive for paint for use on plastic and rubber but do not recall what they called it though

Flex additives work well to keep the paint on plastic bumpers/aprons etc... from cracking when hit/bumped etc...
What are you painting frank??? I have used them extensively. Its a simple additive. just add the proper amount to your base/clear or single stage paint/primer and your good to go. Yes put it in the primer too...

One bad thing about them is that the paint loses some UV resistance and will fade faster that surrounding paint. Is this on an exterior panel?

    Hi Frank:
Just a footnote on painting ' Flexible Plastic ' Now that my Daughters Maverick is almost finished I'm renewing my efforts in the 'Spray-Chrome' setup. We have a complete set of everything required to proceed (chemicals & spray equipment) Spray Booth Areas etc. and I'm going to experiment with the plastic pieces which surround the bucket seats, both sides and backs then the Marker Light Housings .. then finally a MAVERICK and COMET GRILLE . The process isn't too complicated .. but coating the items requires ' preparations' which must be adhered to .. I'll do it on my cars first as a ' test ' to see how they hold up . I'll post the photos online afterwards if anyone is interested .

    Hi Frank:
Regarding spraying ' flexible plastic ' ..Now that my Daughters Maverick is finished , I'm planning on moving forward with the ' Spray-Chrome' process . We have all of the necessary chemicals , spray equipment and Spray Areas set up already . I'm planning to start with the flexible plastic covers that 'surround' some bucket seats and the side cover pieces , then on to Marker Light Housings, then when we ' dial in ' the procedures for the process we'll undertake the ' larger ' pieces like a COMET and a MAVERICK GRILLE .. The process isn't that complicated but the ' procedures ' and time for each of the separate applications must be adhered to faithfully or the results could be less than stellar ! I 'll take photos of the pieces we finish and post them on this forum if anyone is interested .

Of course ! I see it now .. Thanks for the tip .
Sometimes I think my computer has a mind of it's own .. either that or I'm getting more klutzy on the
keyboard. I'll post the pics on the Spray Chrome process when I can.

Yes many times . I use isopropyl alcohol on anything plastic to get rid of static. Just like fiber glass. They use a flex agent in the paint also.
