Help me id my motor

    I am new to the straight 6 world.I need to look for a manual flywheel for my car.It's a 76 comet what motor should it be?I thought a 200 but someone told me it might be a 250?Thanks

    If the motor hasn't been changed then your VIN will ID your motor.

    If the 5th digit of the VIN is a 'T' it is a 200 and if the 5th digit is an 'L' it is a 250.

    The 250 will have 4 bolt water pump...170-200 has 3 bolts

    Mid 70's 200 will have starter above where oil pan/block meet and 250 will have starter below block same asV8.

    But the late 70's-early 80's 200 will have a low mount starter same as a 250. If an engine swap happen some times in it's life then counting water pump bolts will tell the story.
