First off I appologize if this is the wrong section, I couldn't find a fitting one, but feel free to guide me to the right section.

Now to the point. Yesterday my broke self was lucky enough to stumble upon a kijiji ad for a free '74 Maverick parts car and get first dibs on it. So today I went to get it and brought it home. As far as body goes it's a lost cause, nearly everything is completely rusted out, but it still has the factory 302(which I'm unsure if it runs yet, the guy I got the car from only had it a year and didn't attempt to start it) and C4 trans. At the very least I've gotten a free sturdy hood to replace the rusted out one on my '76 4 door Maverick and some pretty good looking tires. Overall I'm happy with this wanted to share with all of you. And without further ado, the only pictures I took so far!

PS: Notice how the exhaust pipe exits out the front instead of the back, it's bent 180 degrees in the middle. I found it pretty funny.

Free is a great price, there is always something that can be salvaged and either used or sold

Exactly, can't go wrong with free, if all else fails there's a few bucks in scrap metal, though I'd feel bad scrapping a Maverick, haha.

Yep, though all 4 of them are seized up(not sure if brakes, bearings or something else, I haven't checked), so the car doesn't roll.

Because of this we had a very difficult time loading it onto the trailer, especially since it was too icy to back up the fairly steep driveway it was sitting in(no room to turn around once up the driveway either), so the car had to be pushed/pulled down to the trailer. I'm really not sure if the ice was a blessing or a curse when it came to pushing the car down the driveway, it helped it slide and likely saved the tires from rubbing off a bunch of tread at the bottom, but it wanted to slide into the bush off to the side instead of down the driveway to the trailer. Overall it took about 2 hours and the "seller's" truck with a snow plow blade to get it to the trailer and loaded, fun times :yup:

I bet the brakes are locked up. Pretty common with a car that has been sitting a long time.

Great score! Perfect price! All of the V8 mounts, Belly Bar, Trans Crossmember, 5-lug rear, etc have value. Not to mention all the stupid tiny things (clips, trim, knobs, bolts, nuts, etc).

It must just be the angle of the picture, but the front bumper looks REALLY pointy. An optical illusion, I'm sure.

My current plan is to keep what I need off of it and then take off and sell anything else that has any value, then probably sell the rest of the car for scrap since it will be basically useless at that point with all the rust and all valuables stripped from it.

I hadnt noticed, but the bumper does look really pointy in the picture, it's definitely just an optical illusion, it's a normal old Maverick big bumper and isn't nearly as pointy in person, haha.

All of the V8 parts are keepers of course. I know it is bent but that front hood trim is worth a pretty penny. Lots of the hoods rusted through and that trim fell off. If you can save it and work the dents and bends out of it and polish it back up.
