I followed the link to: Maverickcorral.homestead.com/grabberregistry

and it seems to meet the criteria as a grabber.

Thanks for sharing Jim! I already had your car listed on the VIN list as "(Sam Auxier Jr ex-pro-stock car)"... I must have grabbed the VIN from a picture on another thread or something. I tend to do that. :D

I would like to add my 71 Comet GT. Vin 1K31F536168 build date 01/71 Trim 8A Axle 6 Trans W DSO 17 Body 62B Color M. I bought it in eastern South Dakota last week. It was in a barn and the plates were 2005. The origional engine has been replaced with a 289 and the transmission looks to be an FMX. I have started the engine and it runs good and does not smoke. The lady I got it from said it had a hot rod 289 with a racing cam and had been rebuilt. Rebuilt means different things to different people but it seemed to run good. The only things I have do so far was to clean it up somewhat, rebuild the carb, and drop the gas tank. I think the gas tank will clean up pretty good even though it had some pretty nasty gas in it. The sending unit is toast. The care is 80-90% complete with the main part missing being the AC parts. I order and am waiting for a Marti Report on it.

Uhhh, yep, that's probably a 289... Has the traits of a '67 model, smooth top valve covers(Power by Ford made their first appearance in '68), a passenger side water pump inlet(last used in '69), etc... The aluminum air cleaner is later '70s, maybe early '80s...

If you need one, a '69 Mustang 302 radiator fits, also has the passenger side outlet... Beginning '70, all small blocks used the driver side for lower radiator & water pump out/in.....

    BTW Welcome...

BTW #2 that 17 DSO is Washington DC, car is a long away from home...

Thanks for the reply. Good call on the 67 289. I pulled the valve covers and the right head had a date code of 7EA which would be the 1st week of May 67. I will drop the starter and check the numbers on the block. The intake is from a 75 302 and the carb is from a 74 truck. The lady said that it had a racing manifold which I assume meant there was a 4bbl intake. I did find a 4300 4 barrel in the trunk. but no intake. There is a different kind of set up with the shackles as there is a bar that runs behind the gas tank and connects them together. This is interesting plus the rear shocks are staggered. I did uncover the differinal tag and it shows that the gears are 3.00:1 as stated on the door tag. I think for now the radiator in it will be ok.

Air cond Mavs came with 3:00 non a/c 2.79, this is reguardless of engine... Only exception is the early units that didn't use the 8"...

Your date on head may be 7E4, AFAIK the heads, block, etc all have exact day of casting...
