Six cylinder installation ,has anyone ever tried to put the engine and transmission in together from underneath, with the car on the lift and the steering off of course

Thats the first time I have seen this question posted, I would think it would be a nightmare getting it at the right angle to go in

    Hey Curtis:
Concerning the engine install.. It's just my opinion .. but there are a whole lot of things that could go wrong from
underneath .. I'd consider the old fashioned ' Topside' install. We've done several . Get the car down off the lift . You can manually ' steer ' it by using the wheels when it's on the deck .
    Good luck with that .

How are you planning to "lift" it into place??

With car on lift, and engine & transmission strapped to a dolly/form I could maybe see letting car down on engine(seen similar to remove/install VW engines)... Would need to be stripped of accessories, could not have steering, sway bar or even motor mounts...

Basically sounds like a invitation for disaster...

Yeah pretty much I was just wondering if it was possible I didn't measure anything or anything like that but the car is completely apart right now, so I was just thinking maybe it might be easier . Just taking the engine and transmission out together was kind a hard to do without hitting anything so I was just trying to avoid hitting anything putting it back together the engine doesn't seem to balanced on the hoist very well , I'm sure it's possible I just was wondering if there was a different way

If you drop them in from the top, one thing that can help is to pick the back of the car up. Then you don't have to angle the motor and tranny so much to get it in.

It actually went in from underneath no problem, with the car on a lift just lowered the body down.
