I feel stupid asking this but I'm putting on the Wilwood disc brake kit on my 70 mav. When putting on the caliper bracket...does it sit on the front (front of car) or rear side (back of car) of the spindle? The manual doesn't say yet it fits flush when sitting on the front. On the rear side of the spindle its not flush...but close. Seems like an easy question but almost all disc on newer cars its always sitting on the rear side. I suppose it doesnt matter as long as theres no sterring binding issues. Thoughts or experience?
Not a stupid question. I had the same problem an started grinding something off before I realized they went on the front of my '71. Micah
So the front then. That's how I mounted the bracket and then stopped for some feedback. I did have to cut the steel brake line as the fitting was froze on. Did you have any trouble connecting the caliper to the stock lines? Also what master cylinder are you using? The stock or one from a disc 76 mav?
Ok so after looking again...I realized I had the caliper plate turned to the wrong holes when trying to fit them to the back side of the spindle. I now have them mounted to the backside and flush. All is good.
