I need to reinstall the rear Maverick emblem after a repaint. I didn't think to measure the placement before I removed it. Is it typically centered between the gas cap and right taillight? And centered top to bottom? Any photos or measurements would be appreciated.
3" in from the right and 3/4" up from the bottom is about where it has been on several original spoilers I've had. It was applied over the years by hand from lots of different workers on the line so it varies around that area.
Maybe mine was on the wrong spot initially. When I took it off it was not on the trunk lid like the picture. It was on the tail light panel between the gas cap and the right turn signal. Did they move it by the '74 model year? I actually think I like it better on the trunk lid like yours shows but I want it to be correct for the year model.
It should be on the trunk lid in '74. Here is a pic of a 1974 lid I have out behind my shop. The emblem is gone but you can see where it was attached. Note it about the 2"- 3" from the edge like the other pic but it is much higher, almost centered. I'm sure Ford engineers had a specific measured location, but the assembly line didn't really care about an exact spot, just so it was in that general area when applied.
I just looked it up in the Detroit Iron manual and it does not show a rear emblem. Although the 1974 sales brocure does show one on the deck lids. Either way, the spot I took it off of from the light panel must not have been correct at all.
Here is a thread that has some measurements. BTW - that is a standard deck lid in the 1974 picture - it did not have a spoiler. http://mmb.maverick.to/threads/maverick-emblem.88300/#post-897826
I realized that after my reply that it was a standard deck. Your measurements sound just right, it also matches what I see in the sales brochure across all models. Certainly looks better than down below where someone put it. Thanks for all your help! Thanks,
