Picked up a clutch pedal assembly off of a Maverick and the brake and clutch pedal look just like those off the 64-65 mustangs. I found this site http://www.mustangsteve.com and the pedals the show have the same bends and everything. Just wondering what you guys think. If I am right then hurray for me ... if not then oh well.
The pedals might be close, but the mounting cage is different. When I converted my 75, I used those pedals, but had to mount them in the Maverick bracket. There was a bit of cutting and welding involved before it was over. Wait... Now that I remember doing it, I had to use the Maverick brake pedal for some reason. I had to cut and weld it from the wide auto pedal and make it into the shape of the manual brake pedal. Then I used the pedal pad from the Stang brake pedal. It had something to do with using the automatic pedal cage I'm sure. Maybe the Maverick manual pedal cage would accept the brake pedal??? If you have the Maverick cage though, you surely have the pedals. Dave
I think '74 and up cages were different, there was a difference between auto cars and manual cars. I maybe wrong but I think so. Just to be sure how is it you tell its maverick stuff .. parts # ? My car with the crappy pedals setup is supposedly to be the original parts except for the fairlane pedals.
I have several sets of pedals now. Just not available to look at... My salvage 74 Comet set looks like my 72 set... Both manual trannys. The 75 auto set is totally different than the manual sets. Or at least it was before I turned it into a custom manual conversion 15 years ago. Am I helping you at all? What I am getting at is that the manual Maverick support cages are nothing like Maverick auto cages and neither is like an early Stang/Falcon manual cage. The pedals are close enough to look the same and, with work, swap. Support cages WILL NOT SWAP between Stang/Maverick. No matter auto or manual. They just do not line up. Tried it. Dave
The Maverick pedal support is smallish, compared to Stang. I don't know the numbers to give you. That would be the surefire way to tell. The Maverick support also has the return spring for the clutch pedal mounted to the side of the support, unlike the other Fords. Dave
Thanks for the help. From what you discribed I have maverick parts. I was kinda worried for abit. Did not wanna be stuck in the same boat I am in now.
So your auto cars have a big spring and bracket on the left, even though there is no clutch pedal? Your manual support does not have a wider channel to fit the third pedal? These are the differences in mine. Also the reason that cutting and welding were needed to put a clutch pedal into my auto support cage. Not trying to be smart, not much anyway, but these are some big differences. Dave
