I went to Year One's first Car Show of the year ... and my Grabber won a Top 25 award! Yes ... I have won awards before at car shows ... but I have only won in judged shows ... this show was purely popular vote by entrants and spectators and I have never won in this type of show ... and I didn't have a bunch of friends and family there to stuff the ballot box. I think Mavericks are finally catching on outside of us Maverick fanatics! :bananaman
thats awesome:bananaman congrats id say looking at your car in pics has to be one of the cleanest ever , now i havent seen every maverick but yours sure looks good
I would say the crowd had good taste,,, Really fine car and glad they noticed. I agree, these cars are finally getting their due styling respect. Dan
dan, if the rest of your car is as nice as the one pic you have up then you deserved to win. that is a beautiful car.
Thanks guys ... There were about 225 cars there ... I've seen it closer to 400 during the summer. I was BSing with the guy next to me and telling him I've been coming here for a few years. They have it the 3rd Saturday of every month. Not sure what the topic was but I was telling him usually it's the Mustangs, Camaros, etc ... or the guys with the biggest group of buddies or car clubs that get the popular vote and win the top 25 slots and that my Maverick didn't really have a chance and I just come for fun. The best part is the award is no crappy plaque ... it's a Year One $25 Gift certificate ... As far as Mavericks at the show ... One other one ... yellow 71 Grabber ... setup for drag racing. He had a cowl hood on it .. asked about Grabber hood and he said he has it but front lip is rusted. Met a guy restoring a 73 Maverick. He took my number to get some of my Maverick center cap decals. Also met a guy that said a Maverick saved his life when a group of guys were chasing him for screwing around with one of their girlfriends ... he outran them in his Maverick ... Another guy was telling me about his Grabber ... Black with silver stripes and black bucket interior. And then another guy and his wife ... currently building a Maverick drag car with a 351C ...
Congats, Dan! Looking forward to seeing it in person week after next! And all the Georgia Gang again, too!
