I know this is a long shot but, with the wonders of the Internet this might be possible. I purchased a 1971 Grabber Green metalic Maverick Grabber new in 1971. The car had the 302 V8, bucket seats, black interior and three speed manual floor shift. I used the car on the steet and strip and in later years only as a race car until 1983 when I sold it to a collector/car dealer in Tucson Arizona. In 1984 the car was sold it to an individual in Tucson and he raced it for several years. I was told it was then turned it into a show car by that owner, but this may not be true. The car my have been repainted blue and the subframes were tied together by someone after I had the car. The VIN number for this car is 1K93F197799.

Glad to see that people are still enjoying the Maverick as much as I did when I owned mine. I am not trying to buy this car back, just wondering if it is still around.

I know it is a stretch, but because it was an Arizona car at least until around the late 1980's, it could still be out there somewhere. I even found an old picture of it the other day. Seems like I didn't know much about cameras back then, but it would have been nice to have some pictures of it at the drag strip.

I have been away from drag racing for many years. I didn't know that there were that many people that still raced Mavericks, but they always were a good race car (in my opinion).

I have never heard of 'Grabber Green Metallic'. Does anyone know what color he may be referring to? I know what Grabber Green looks like. And I know there was a dark green metallic and light green/lime metallic.

Good luck on finding your car.

    Grabber Green Metalic Color

This color was only offered in the Maverick's in 1971. Some of the Mustangs also had the color (not sure of that) though. I ordered the car new and the color was an option in 1971 and although it has been many years, I didn't forget that color. It was not as dark as the dark green metalic, but darker than the lime green.

Please excuse the quality of the photo. It was taken in 1972 and the camera that was used wasn't the best, so the color may not look quite right.

Looks like maybe it's the color of the third one and Ray's???

Here's the color chart for 71 Mavs.. lists exactly the color you are talking about. Code Z: Grabber Green Metallic...

This is also interesting because the previous Grabber green was also code Z, but it was a different green and not metallic, it was the color of pic # 2 above, and in the color chips below. Two grabber greens..... learn something new everyday!
