Uh, no, unless you prefer snuggling up to the Maverick instead of the wife.

QUESTION FOR Ray, Dan, Craig, etc...

Does this hood have the potential to lower the going market price on factory Grabber hoods. I mean, unless you are a concours guy, why pay $500 and shipping for a metal hood that will need to be sanded, primed, painted, and maybe more, when you can get one of these new?

Personally, I don't think that's going to happen. There have been fiberglas Grabber hoods available for quite some time now and they haven't made any difference. These c/f hoods are great and I want one but there are still a lot of people that are going to want the metal hoods. There will always be plenty of demand for the original hoods and let's face it, they are not getting any easier to find. The c/f hoods in my opinion will just make more people aware of the grabber hood and should just increase the demand. I still have people at the car shows ask me questions what did my hood come off of or did I make it. There will always be a big demand for original good rare parts of any kind.

I'll get you a pic of it on mine before I paint it.

It will probably go unpainted for a great deal of time now that I think about it. The exterior of my Sprint is where all the work is needed and paint won't be started until everything is right.

    I would think so!
This hood just took me out of the market for 2 Grabber hoods.
I planned on finding one for each of my Mavs.
I just committed an order for one of these and will get the other from Derrick when the time and money are right.

The fiberglass versions didn't impact the steel market for several reasons:
    Weak material
    Poor fit/finish
Expensive part when you are done with buying, shipping, spending hours to get it to fit, prepping, and painting.

    CF has many advantages:
Light as fiberglass, strong as steel. (They make driveshafts from this stuff!)
    No fitting required.
    No paint required.
Just buy and ship, that's it... unless you want to paint. Far less prepping there too.

That's why I bought one of these.

In my opinion.....I don't think it will lower the price of "real" steel hoods. There are some that will still want a steel hood.

I doubt prices will go down, but if someone is not doing a perfect restoration, like Dan, I can't see them going higher. Unless of course the hood is in concours condition.

Then again, the only folks that know about them are us here.
eBay tends to attract folks that are too lazy to look elsewhere for stuff.
They tend to be to ignorant on value too and bid the prices up too high.
So as long as those suckers are out there and ignorant to the availability of such a top notch part, you probably have nothing to worry about.

i paid him to say that ;)

i agree.. there will the few that must have the orginal hood. why? well just to have it. i don't think this hood will change much in pricing on regluar hoods.. if anything they will probably go up in value since they are getting more rare each year.

i think this hood if gonna be for the guy who isn't one of those anal maverick guys. for one... the anal maverick guy isn't going to want this hood. a prime example is this post... there are those who have not posted anything under this post. hense no interest in it. either because it is not orginal or CF isn't for them.

but when it comes down to it and when real grabber hood get even harder to fine... others will wake up. if they want the grabber look then well... this is going to be the only way to go. if they don't like the Carbon Fiber then they can just paint it.

personally i was never a "grabber" fan. to me, all it was was the hood spoiler and some stripes... big wuppe! however there is a demand for it and again i'm did this project to help the maverick commumity more then anything.

    i guess time will tell.

eh i hope so too...lol! no request for a comet one...lol!

Personally if it walks like a duck, quacks like a duck, then to me it's a duck. I don't care if it's from 1970 or 2007, as long as it fits good and looks as freaking awesome as these do I'm all for the CF hood.

Of course, it may be a while before I can get mine. Woe.
