Did things ass backwards, but now getting back around to A. Wanted to know about rubbe or polyurethane bushings. Which is better and where can either be bought. I am looking to rebuild the entire front end of the car. I have read briefly on the net that poly bushings squeek. Can someone recommend where to get these parts in a complete kit. Thanks
I recommend rubber, except for the sway-bar bushings, which should be polyurethane. Get the grease-able kind if you can. Contrary to popular belief, "polygraphite" is noisy too, just not as noisy as regular polyurethane...
I agree, I put poly in my spring perches, and geased them well, but if you lean on the car they squeak.
Lot's of guys have. Get your parts from www.rockauto.com. Use OEM parts. Unless you want a road racer, use the rubber stuff. The poly stuff squeaks and, in case you haven't noticed, Mavericks aren't Town Cars and you will hear it.
poly bushings do squeak, but they shure do tighten up the front end.A monty carlo bar stiffens the front up too.Nice if you want better handling,(I did) If you can live with the squeak, its worth the effort.Just my two pennies.Up to you, good luck.
My car only squeaks in and out of high driveways, going down the road its fine, lumps bumps and pot holes dont make it squeak.
Just put a complete front end on my mav. from mountain mustangs everything bolted right up. used the midolyne rubber bushings. now she runs tight and straight..... Check ebay for mustang front end that is where I got mine under 300.00 bucks complete...just let them know it is for a maverick and the sway bar dia.
I used polyurethane on the rear springs, and it rides like a brick $#!t-house. 'Should'a stuck with rubber. New stock-type rubber bushings firm things up nicely. It's real noticeable, and like I said previously, if you go with polyurethane bushings on the sway-bar only, it will give you a nice improvement in handling without making the ride stiffer...
Thanks for the info guys. Sounds like I will be going rubber. Heck... it can't be that bad, the rubbe has been on my car since '70 and it rides ok. I can olny imagine new rubbe will be even better. Rubber for me except the sway bar as recommended. Thanks a bunch.
