i have had my alt. off the car for a week. in the meantime i have moved the car a few times. i put the alt. back on and checked the batt.(before cranking) and it read 6.75v. i put the charger on and it went pass 15 amps and kicked the breaker in the charger. i took the cables off and it did about 8 amps. this sounds about right. so why was the charger kicking out with the cables hooked up.. i am going to have the batt. checked tomorrow, it's about 3 years old. ...frank...:Handshake
that's what she suggested...she was the one operating the multimeter. ...just getting a second opinion.. ...:Handshake...
sounds like it to me too. either that or something in the car was pulling an aweful lot of juice???? Starter hung up maybe??
frank, if you only had it off a week it shouldn't drop that far. i've raced w/o the alternator and it doesn't go down that fast. i'd take the battery in and have it checked. my guess is new battery time. this is the time of the year they seem to go around here. FFD.
She and Ya'll were right. it was the batt. now would anyone want to guess...did the alt. being bad take out the batt. or the batt. being bad take out the alt.? ...Effie said the bad batt. took the alt. out... i ......
i would think the batt. took out the alternator. the low battery made the alternator work harder. just like us old guys frank.
I agree bad battery took out the alternator. The hot temperatures likely had something to do with the battery failing.
just wondering out loud That new high tech fuel system that Frank just put on in no way could have caused this....directly or indirectly????? Maybe the alternator cannot keep up with the "stuff" and that cause the battery which caused the alternator which caused the SPIKE? just wondering.
