    Hi everybody!!!

I´m watching all this stuff on e-bay and thinking about buying a more "fashionable" (chrome)thermo housing since mine has seen better days, but I read and read and can´t really understand which is which and what would fit my darling, small block, big block, mid-size..? In sweden my car is big as hell...

Well just asking if you got any ideas...

    Cheers!

One thing I've found with all the chrome T-stat housings is they all leak. The chrome is too slick to get a gasket or O ring to seal. I useed both types on a small block and both leaked, I ended up going back to an aluminum housing, I polished it up to look better. I see in your signature you've got a 200 six, as far as I know none of the V8 housings fit that.

You got lucky. Everyone over on StangNet that's tried em had leaks. Probably helps to rough up the gasket surface.

Mine's never leaked either, it has the o-ring built into it so it seals against the intake manifold.

Shoulda told me you needed it, I would have put one in that box.

I too have had leaks since I went chrome, but not too bad. I can live with it and will not put the stock one back on unless I get it powdercoated first.

I used emery cloth to rough surface on my chrome one. No leaks so far.

The Ford piece was probably made in China, like everything else now a days. :naughty: I think the gasket one was also a Ford Racing part, I don't recall though. Both developed a slow leak after a month or so. I got tired of mopping up the antifreeze collecting on the timing cover:hmmm: Any one want a chrome one, I'll send it to them if they pay the shipping.

So maybe I just fix mine up and repaint it instead... I just thought it would be nice with al least one thing shining...:)
