Hello, My name is Jason, and I like Fords. There I admitted it. Step one: admit you have a problem. Let me tell you a story. Until recently I am the guy who always had a GM or Mopar who told Ford guys their cars sucked! I know, I know, very harsh. You probably want to punch me now. A little blue 2 door 70 Maverick I bought about a month ago for $100. has changed that. I bought it despite the fact I didnt care for Fords because, honestly, who among you would pass up a complete Maverick for $100? I could'nt. I brought her home (I have a rollback) and even though it had been parked since the 70s it seemed to have some potential. I cleaned it up, put a battery in it and it turned over. I cleaned the points and hooked up a temp. gas can and it tried to start. Some tweaking and the old 6cyl was running for a few seconds. Bought a fuel pump and tried again, she ran fairly well. I put some tires on the rims. Filled the brake cylinder. Installed a muffler, welded it in myself (very proud of the job!). Folks just TODAY 1-4-08, I drove my $100. Maverick and I think I'm hooked. I keep telling myself its not a Ford its a Maverick, perhaps then I will be able to sleep at night. I will be dreaming about the Junkyard I am going to tomorrow. I need a few parts for my Maverick.

Well, I wasnt kidding I went to a junkyard today and what a fine place to be, just a little warmer and not to wet and of course lots of cars including about 10 total Maverick and Comets of all years. I found several pieces I was after including a gas tank and sending unit, a pair of black arm rests, drivers tail light and an original AM radio. I almost got a decent battery tray but bolt was stripped. I will try again next week. The place is called Whitlows, its off 12:00 Knob Rd near Salem and Roanoke VA. They crush cars but keep old stuff and are ONLY open Sat from 8 to 3. So their primary business is NOT selling parts but they will give you a deal on Sat if you have cash and dont dicker. I paid $50. for my finds today. Being a new nut I spent until 1:00 tonight getting the tank in and the fuel line cleaned out and functional. I will try it out tomorrow.

Cool! It's getting really hard to even find Mavericks/Comets in the junkyards anymore. Even harder to find a good used gas tank. Good find! :)
