I believe God looks out for our own good even though it is sometimes hard to understand. Where there is disapoiment there is also happyness. No one was hert, you are smart and have good insurance. Take your time start looking for another car. You and your daughter will be happy again!

Damn...and I feel about this small (fingers pushed really close together) because I was personally mentioned in the first post, and I never read it until page EIGHT!!!

Man, sorry to hear about it, and those pictures are horrible...

But I almost did it once and switched to the 2-bulb flourescent lights from walmart a couple years ago. Plus I have two fire extinguishers in the back seat area, since my car has been caught on fire once already, and the muffler guy just hosed it down with water making more of a mess. I figured the next time it is on fire, there will be easy access from inside or outside the car to reach in and grab a fire extinguisher and minimize the damage. Check out the two extinguishers behind each of the front seats, they can be easily grabbed from the outside if the windows are down, or if you open the doors...

I was using just a lightbulb drop light one time working under the dash, upside down, with my head under the steering wheel and I started to smell something hot and smoky...ever since then, it has been fluorescent bulbs only...

The two little red things behind the front seats. They are what we call "fire extinguishers", repeat after me, "fy-ar...X-ting-wish-ers". They are used to put out "fy-ers". They can be easily reached from open windows or opened doors...

If you have ever suffered from a fire, even a small one, such as mine (which burned all my front half carpet, melted about 25% of the wires under my dash, and left the entire aptly named "firewall" paintless and rusted, you will know how important it is to have fire extinguishers close by...

It took several years before you couldn't smell the smoke anymore...

Be careful, they have mercury in them and are hazardous if they break.

Well Jason, once again, I'm sorry about your loss. Let me know when the insurance company settles with you and what your plans are about building another car. I'm willing to help you when and where I can. 2 door/4 door doesn't matter, only what makes you happy.

Get started as soon as possible. I don't like cruisin' alone.

Yea, but not really a health risk. There is a very small amount of mercury in them.
