    I HAVE A 74 2 DOOR MAV....ONE OWNER CAR....ABOUT 84,000 ON 200 I6....AUTOMATIC-IS THE TRANNY A C4?...5 LUG DRUM BRAKES...HUB CAPS COME OFF IN TWO PIECES....THATS ALL I KNOW...ANYTHING YAWL KNOW ABOUT THE CAR...I WANT TO SWAP MOTOR OUT WITH 91 5.0 HO ENGINE...GOING WITH CARB/AIR GAP INTAKE....ALREADY PURCHASED ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP....TOLD THAT TRANNY WON'T WORK....DO I NEED TO CHANGE BELLHOUSING...NEW FLEX PLATE....PLEASE HELP ME IF U CAN

    yes it is a C4, yes you need a different bellhousing, The C4 that is in the car now hooked to that 200 I6 probably won't last long if you hook it up to a 5.0/302, be glad it is already a 5 lug car, collectiong the parts to do the conversion can be a pain, unless you can purchase a 5 lug parts car.

    Sounds like you have the start to a good project. Post some pictures and keep us updated on the progress

    Wow, so there is even a slang version of Y'all now! :biglaugh:

    Seriously, :Welcome: to the board. You're going to need the frame mounts and engine mounts for a '71-'77 V8 Maverick or Comet, V8 throttle cable, and yes, the correct flex plate, torque converter, and a C4 that can handle the power. You can use your original transmission behind the V8, but it's anyone's bet how long it will last. Don't forget manifolds or headers to fit the Maverick, and you'll have to have new exhaust ran.
