Hi everyone, seems all my questions are easy ones for you all, but I´m still a learner so please bare with me!!! I had my comet on jack stands like a week ago when trying to kill my bleeder screws, and it seems like after that I´ve got a "new" leak from under the back of the car, just in front of the gastank, since I don´t know the correct term for it It, but looking at the pictures in my -74 Ford Shop Manual it´s either the "removable carrier axel" or the "Integral carrier axel", is this common or should I get worried..? And how do I proceed with taking care of the problem??? Thanks a lot!!!! Robert.
Probably the pinion seal on the rear. If its just a small drip, nothing to worry about as long as you keep the rear full. Its not too hard to change except breaking the pinion nut loose. Much easier if you can get it on a lift and get some leverage on it.
Thanks for the reply, it´s more like a drip really, just got scared if i messed up something (again) ...
My transmission LEAKS, and I still just top it off once a month. No big deal. Yes, it NEEDS to be repaired, but at this time I don't have the cash for a rebuild, and should be able to scrounge up some change for another quart of Type F... Sometimes, one has to prioritize what needs to get fixed and what can wait...
Well if you can find the direct leak and its a small drip you can drain the oil, Then you could jb weld it or metal epoxy. This worked for me but in a different area and remember to keep area clean and dry before applying
