    1972 Maverick Sprint
Hello all. I have been lurking in the shadows and thought it was about time I introduced myself. My part time driver/ project is a 72 Sprint Maverick. I have had the car since high school and just wish I had more time and money to work on it. I like all of the technical advice available here and plan on using it in the future.

I also would like to ask for some advice while I'm writing. I am in the process of moving and need to tow my maverick from Florida to Mississippi. I was going to rent one of those front wheel dollies from Uhaul for the job. I understand that I need to disconnect the drive shaft to do this so I don't destroy the transmission. I was hoping that someone could give me some how to advice and tips to make this a bit easier and to avoid damage. Thanks in advance.

I would either remove the driveshaft or rent a flatbed trailer for the car. My son towed his ford P/U aand ruined the tranny. Might not happen but why take a chance. Welcome to the board.:Welcome:

Welcome aboard neighbor! :Handshake Not too far away from you and I also have a Sprint. I live in Grand Bay Al and work in Pascagoula Ms. Where in Mississippi are you planning to bring it to?
As for taking out the driveshaft it is always better to be safe than sorry. Takes only about 10 minutes to get it out. If you were only going 20-30 miles it would probably be fine but much further than that, I would definitely reccommend taking it out...just to be safe.

    Welcome to the Madness!

Good luck on your move. Remove the driveshaft to be safe. Tell us about your Sprint. What kind of shape is it in? Drivetrain, options? Plans for it?

    Inquiring minds want to know.

My Sprint is in great shape now, it wasn't when we got it about 9 years ago. We painted it a couple of years back, it is not a true original paint job but it looks pretty darn close. As far as the inside goes, we have made no major modifications yet. I'm really just trying to keep it going for now until I have some more time to work on it. I am interested in improving the suspension and brakes first so I'll be researching that in the mean time.

    Cheers,

not a bad idea to plug the tailshaft of the trans with either a rag or a plastic tailshaft plug..
