I have a 1976 Maverick Stallion, and 85 More Mavericks and Comets in Inventory.
I wanted to post this to bring a smile or a chuckle to every one today.
I had a very buisy day going today when my neighbor at the used car lot asked if he could use my mig welder,, I said well I can stop over with the welder and weld what he needed I do not Loan my tools out,, specially a New Mig welder from Miller. so he said he would give me a call when his mechanic was ready,, So I told him just let me know.

About 12:30 this after noon he called me and said we are ready, I said ok give me a few minutes I am just going to have lunch,, 5 minutes later this guy I have never met shows up and says he is here to pick up my welder and wants to know what the hold up is,, I laughed and said who are you,,? He said I am the new mechanic at the car lot across the street,, I said well I am having lunch and I told your boss this and I will be over rite after that,, He replied,,,, well how long do you think,,? 5 minutes more,,? I said Look just find your way back to the Lot and I will see you when I am done eating,, (y),, So off he went.

I figured I better walk over first to see what was on this guys mind and what he wanted welded,,, Lmao,,

I walked in said hello to the owner who is a friend of mine,, and continued into the work area,, the mechanic pointed up to the exhaust manifold on a 2004 Ford Explorer,, and said he cut the exhaust studs that heald the ( Y ) pipe in place and wanted me to weld the exhaust system directly to the engine,,,:rofl2:,, I asked him,,, Are you serious,,? He said yes I am,, nothing else can work,,, I looked at him and said,, Have you ever heard of a Stud extraction tool,,? You heat the manifold to cherry red and with a wratchet you extract the stud,, replace them both and install the exhaust correct,,, He said well,, I have been doing it this way for years,,,, I looked at him and said,,, Do tell,,,:rofl2:,,, He said he had a exhaust leak on the other side and told me to weld the manifold to the engine,, My reply was,, why dont you get the owner and have him come out here and lets all figure this out,,, so he walked in and asked my friend to come out that he had a game plan on finishing this SUV,,

I looked around to see if I was about to be Punked on a TV show about this time,, so he walks my bud under this 3 year old SUV and he shows him what he wants done,, now he installed a transmission in this thing,,,
and he said 2 of the bolts would not line up so he cut into the bell housing and removed half the Bolting flanges on the bottom,,(y) My bud looked at me,, I looked at him,,, we Both looked at his new Prodigy mechanic,, and busted up laughing,, My bud while laughing asked if he had unloaded all his tools yet,, The mechanic said No,,, Why,,?

I chimed in and told him,, your technical expert methods are far beyond a couple of Old schoolers like us,, and we feel extremely intimidated by that and before I could say another word,, My bud had a few colorfull term but did say get the F@%K out of here,, :hmmm:, The mechanic said,, So because I am more experienced then you 2 I have to go,,,? :rofl2:

My bud and I laughed so hard,, I do believe we wet our pants,,, Just had to share this with every one.

This Mechanic was Hired this morning at 9am and by 1pm he was cleaning up his tools,, the funny thing is,, he worked at a very well known car care place for a few years,,,:naughty: It goes to show you,, when you drop off your car at a shop,,, the people that might be touching it,,,

That's a good one!!!!!!!!! I've been a body mechanic for 27 years and I have seen my share of new generation mechanics(butchers) They R+I the parts until they find the problem or expect the computer system to tell them. They have little common sense and no problem solving capabilities. If that was my vehicle I would flip.

I saw a guy cut down an exhaust pipe with a torch.......

That exhaust pipe had u-joints attached to it:rofl2:

BTW the best way to remove a broken stud is with a welder;)

Can you imagine finding that your bellhousing was cut and your exhaust was welded to the motor? He'd better be lucky he doesnt work there and would be long gone when I got ahold of him
