Me too Robert, you all have my condolences. And I was happy to see this thread brought to life again because I am working on mine also. I just ran my electric(got it inspected and passed with flying colors), ran water, phone and cable(hey you never know). I'm just coming in for a bite, I've been putting up J-channel to put up my metal ceiling. After that it is wiring up lights and and getting doors installed. Man it has been along time coming. We've done 2 adoptions in the last 2 1/2 yrs and that put a major slow down on the garage, trying to get caught back up. I can't afford a lift so I can't help you there, but good luck on everything Robert.
Same here, have to have comfort in the "OFFICAL DOG HOUSE" I went one step farther and added a toilet, of course it took a $500 buck pump station. had to dig a trench anyways to get water and the gray conduit for the phone/cable and network cable down to the garage so I just cut a path to the sepetic tank and plumbed in the garage. we tested it out with water before covering it up, filled it up from the garden hose and man alive this thing could shoot crap 50 yards.....it emptied the tank in 3 seconds. Robert
Robert, you may have read about my lift...if not...it came from a guy that installs lifts for a living...he got mine from a VW dealership that was remodeling...he rebuilt it, delivered and installed it for...$1400. it is a Challenger Sprint 5500 . if you like i can send you the name and address... ...Frank...:Handshake
Man, I'm sorry to hear about your girlfriends father. Glad to hear the garage is going well. Do whatever it takes to make it self sufficient. Sure beats running in to go to the bathroom when your up to your elbows in grease and oil.
Well just passed the electrical inspection this morning....now to call the building inspector and get the rough in on it done...then it is time to sheetrock the whole thing. got the patio roofed...I'll get a picture up soon of that. Frank I missed your post...sorry about that...not ignoring ya My pop left me enough when he passed to build this monster and I should have enough left to by a new lift Has anyone tried the epoxy floor coverings. I have read good things and bad things over at garagejournal.com. Its too big to lay down any kind of tile. the meeting/game room will most likley get a floating floor. Robert
I used a Sherwin Williams 2 part Epoxy on mine over 10 years ago. It has held up really well. I did mine before the U Coat It stuff was around, which looks nice but it is expensive www.ucoatit.com/pgs/main.htm.
I used concrete stain on mine ... melted it the first time I did a brake job ... brake cleaner is not kind to it. I would have easily done epoxy if it had been a bit more affordable/available at the time. Definitely do it soon ... that garage will never be empty again ...
I have been reading all I can on the different epoxy coatings...it starts at a few hundred and goes up to almost 2,000 bucks to do my whole garage with automotive/chemicial resistant epoxy. Had my building rough-in reinspection done this morning PASSED. Nothing major called them before I did the electrical and I was suppose to call them in after but he said it was no problem, and pointed out a few things that he wanted to see on the reinspection...got all that fixed. now it is time to get itchy and hang some sheetrock and sneek in some of the things that the inspector didnt need to see Like water and a water heater for my bathroom......COUGH.....Closet. Robert
Well I guess the forum Maintaince Killed my last post here too..... Well I have all the Insulation in and all the sheetrock up. doing the second coat of the mud in the garage area over the next couple of days. This is the only thing I really hate....non't mind hanging it just the finishing. but this time I am renting one of the fancy sanding/vacume machines. Robert
