To check if it's ok take a spark plug wire off the plug end from your car and plug the wire end of the condensor into the plug wire, and the body of the condensor to a ground.Start the car for a few seconds to charge it,the simpley hold the wire end with one hand and the body with the other and you should feel a small amount of voltage. If you do then it's ok.
Do NOT test that condenser by charging it with a spark plug wire and grabbing both ends! They typically hold a 200 volt charge. It will discharge fast enough to burn your finger and slow enough to get you again when you pick it up off the floor after recovering from the first shock. They rarely go bad and they are rarely needed with suppression wires and resistor plugs.
Oh yeah Derek your gonna make a real pal there with that test!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! When charged they will knock the holy @#$%%^^&&** out of ya
it grounds through its body where the bolt holds it down. so be carefull when painting to not get the area that grounds it.
LMAO.... sounds like shop class all over again. you know how many people i threw those capacitors at? how many caught them AFTER seeing the others get zapped.... lol.. oh, fun times. I'm probably going to hell aren't I?
