Just curious, if I were to go with a R&C MII based front suspension, what headers would bolt in without issue if I ran a 351w? Any? Or would I still have to custom make some? I cant really find any concrete info regarding what headers clear with an MII swap.

I know the MII creates alot of room under the hood, but is it useable space for headers, or just more working room?

    TIA for any help.

I have no real advice for you on this.

I just saw that you are from Wilmington. I am just a few miles south in Leland.

    :tiphat:

I do not know for sure, but by the looks of things, using a MII front end, you should be able to use almost any header you want. If it's possible to get a big block in using MII stuff then a 351W will fit with a ton of room to spare. I am sure the someone that really knows will chime in here real soon.

I actually used to live in Leland, now I am in BSL to be exact. I just used Wilmington years back when I registered because its bigger and more recognized :)

I'd look at BBK's #1569 header. I put a set of these in my R&C front-clipped Mav with an LS-1 motor. All I did was cut off the flanges and weld on LS-1 flanges. Everything clears just fine, especially round the steering shaft.

OMG look at all that room! If I can get some 1 3/4" primary 351 headers to clear, all the welding would be worth it to me. I would also love to get a slightly wider track width so I can run SN95 wheels without spacers...

Hey Frank, good to see you again! It's been a couple years huh? :Handshake

i was thinking about you the other day..
how is everything with you? :Handshake

    my header situation is...
i can't find a 1 3/4" tube header listed for an AOD car....
i'm going to Summit in the morning and get the...
BBK 1594s and BBK 1569s and see if either set will fit w/out mods.

Cant wait to hear your results.

Everything is good here, how bout yall? I have been on a not-so-brief hiatus due to buying a Fox body Capri a couple years back. That distracted me from the Mav, but now I am selling the Capri and focusing on my original hot rod again :)

Awesome :) One thing I have heard about the ball flanges on fox body headers is that they really neck down and restrict flow at the collector flange. Alot of people take a carbide bit and open the outlet at the collector. Just something to look into if you do end up running them.

    O K,
Jeff and i spent another afternoon at Summit.

we talked to Reggie, one of the heads up there and he drives a racecar...
i hope that means something...he got one of his saleman...Josh...to help by bringing up all the headers with 1 3/4" tubes...well there were 8 sets.
to make a long story short...i will be back tomorrow morning to finish my search...:yup:
Jeff and i went to a pizza place and filled up on pizza...(y)

"a large time was had by all."

Jeff, do you want to go to Summit or Baby Janes first?

    ...see you tomorrow...:Handshake

Either one will be fine...as long as we do both:clap:

The headers we looked at last looks like the ticket. But I'm good at spending other peoples money. BTW '68 Fairlane calls for 6901's

Maybe if you and jeff would not due so much EATING you could get the headers test fitted and tell these guys what they need to know.
