Is there a generally regarded best year for the Maverick?

Is there a year model that Maverick owners regard as the best model year?

 

70 to 72 cause they have small bumpers

 

70-72 for looks...75 and up if you want disc brakes and electronic ignition.

 

Any year that they were upgraded into Comets by Mercury...

I'd say the 70-72 was the best LOOKING years for our cars with the 77 being the best DRIVING year. My 77 had power disc brakes, a glove box and arctic A/C plus it would drive anywhere worry free at a moments notice all while getting great mileage from it's sturdy 6 cylinder. My 73 is drum muscle brakes, cranky V8 and is finicky about driving any real distance.

Then again the 77 was a creampuff and the 73 is a beater.

69.5 to 77. They can all have the good styles you want added to them.

 

I`m partial to 71 myself cause of the seat belts

 

Either way, all years of Comets make good parts cars

73, but if i had to choose.....70-77!

 

I think '71 was the best year, because the most powerful V8 was offered, and the 4-door was introduced.

I agree. 71 cause it had the most power, small bumpers and nice interior. The later years drove better but they had some hideous interior colors and patterns.

 

'71 Grabber, V8, floor shift with buckets would be my favorite stock Maverick.

On my car, I'm just incorporating everything I like from all years into it. From the '69.5 dash and steering column, to the '72 high back buckets, Grabber spoiler, and Grabber hood, to the '76 disc brakes.

 

If you couldn't tell I'm partial to the 73's.
