I have a 71 maverick with a 302 in it, the car didn't have a drivetrain when I bought it, but I am getting ready to drop the motor and tranny in it. I am using an AOD tanny, and was wondering if I could use a fox body driveshaft, I have one laying around. Anyone I have an idea or know where I can buy a driveshaft that fits?!? Thanks

I'm running a 2004 Stang driveshaft in mine. But with a C-4. The 1979-2004 Stang shafts are all within an inch of being correct for a Maverick.

You might ask Frank (71gold) to measure his driveshaft for you, as it's laying in his garage waiting on being put back in his car.

He runs a AOD in his maverick. If he can give you a measurement you can measure the foxbody driveshaft. If you don't have a foxbody driveshaft handy then let me know and I can run out and measure mine

the driveshaft that I was going to try and use is out of a 80' thunderbird, it basically a fox body mustang with a thnderbird body on it. My mav didn't have a shaft in ti when I got it. What is the length of the stock shaft?

The motor shouldn't matter, just what type of transmission is used.

I've seen driveshafts out of trucks w/ the same transmission type use the same driveshaft but have straight 6, 302, 351 etc

Yup yup, thats where everyone tells you to measure them at.
Atleast from my experience researching online and from local driveshaft shop
