I wont argue the fact that the heat may weaken the metal, But i took a set off my car (6901s) that had been ran for probably 5 years. My boys had a Maverick and wanted the headers, They didnt want the wrapping on them, So they took the wrapping off and to my surprise they looked as good as the day they were wrapped. So i know some say they will cause rust but on those they didn't.

If it hasn't been run lean, At least this is what i was told. And its their discretion to decide If it was ran lean or not.

    Go with chrome ;)

The headers on my mustang are chrome and still look good. They were used when I got them, but they were a good quality header w/ the thick flanges and look really nice

coated mine with VHT header paint today, hope it does its job and keeps all rust out. i used their primer, and multiple coast of their flat red. looks real cool. its hard getting paint inside the crevices of the collectors, though. i don't think i'm going to wrap them after all, wrap is too exspensive for me right now..

I think I still have 2 rolls of header wrap.
If you want them, you can have them for the price of shipping.
PM me if you want them and I'll go check on it

$245 for Jet hot and I am super happy. I have seen the ceramic coating come off hooker headers and was scared to coat my custom made headers. I drove out to the Gathering with no coating problems, still look as good as the day I got them back.

Tammy's car and my mustang have stainless steel bake on paint from eastwood that has worked just as well.

i hope you do, but i have never had any type of "paint" last on a header. ever. they look good for....maybe a week depending on how long u
drive, then it flakes off like nobodys business. get the wrap from the guy that has extra and call it good, after the smell goes away, u wont be dissapointed!(y)

Thanks..........I guess i will get some 6901s and maybe get some paint for them. I really dont want two spend 365.00 on headers. But i really like the gray look though.

I like the VHT paints. I have used the hi heat paint and it works really good if you cure it correctly. I will only use VHT paints on the engine as well.

Something to think about. The headers come with a coating, usualy paint. The coating you apply is only as good as the surface it's applied to. If their paint peels, well...
I painted mine with that VHT. It came with the wrap when I bought it many years ago. It seems to like bare slightly rusty metal cause it won't scratch. My headers had a paint coating when I bought them. The coating went pretty quick and I think the VHT is much better than what was origionaly on it. May be tho that the paint didn't like the fact that I had a massive vacuum leak that took me a while to locate. I must say, the blacktocherry look is facinating :rofl2:
