Hey fellas,im looking into front and rear sway bars. Dont need anything radical, right now im checking out the PST(Performance Technology Suspension) ones. Anyone ever try those?Im also gonna be running Cal-Tracs so I dont know if thats gonna affect the mounting on the rear sway bar:huh:

i'm running a 67-68 mustang bar on my car. it doesn't match up perfect but it does work. on bigger bars though becareful since it will proabaly rip the mounts off. for the rear depending on the mount it will work with car tracs. i have them both, the rear bar is an addco. but who knows if they make it anymore. i was going to make a 1 incher for the front however i never go around to test fitting them so it when on hold.

I got the PST bars a few years ago and am really happy with them. The front was a direct swap but installing a rear takes some drilling. I can tell it tightened up the suspension noticeably. 7/8" front 3/4" rear.

Is there anything wrong with upgrading the front sway bar to 7/8" and not adding a rear at the same time. What diameter is the stock bar? Also is it worth upgrading the bar at all? Thanks guys.

The stock bar is 3/4 of an inch...A 7/8" bar will add rigidity and decrease body roll up front. To get the full benifit of a bigger sway bar you really should install a rear bar as well to balance out the cars dynamic handling characteristics.Soo... yes ubrgading the bar has benifits over the stock one.

Im concerned that a 7/8 bar will not be enough for my needs. 15/16 or 1" my be better.

I think a new 7/8" with poly bushings and adding a rear one, really of almost any size, would be a huge improvement. Mounting the rear was pretty straight forward, I just had to drill through the framerails. I rebuilt the front end at the same time so everything firmed up. Huge difference.

Adding a larger front ONLY will cause the car to push or understeer more. If you are going to a larger front bar ADD a rear or you will reduce lean, but not handle well. The car will want to go straight in a corner.

Now sway bars are for improved cornering. Cal-Tracs are for going straight not turning. Adding both may not work. John Calvert developed Caltracs for drag racing. He runs stock eliminator in NHRA.

I have addco bars front and rear. On Falcons we would use the 1" Granada front bar. It was a bolt in. Not sure if it would work in a Maverick.
