From my experience, with an aluminum radiator and an electric fan wired to the ignition (via a relay), It will take forever to heat up to running temp in even cool weather.

Like 20 minutes on a 55 degree day.

The temp sensor relay can be added later on if you wish, and can be bought adjustable, or already set to come on and off at certain temps.

I ran mine for a year with always-on wired to ignition, then the next year bought the temp sensor. On at 185, off at 165, and never gets above 185 even on 100 degree days.

I would definitely not use the zip ties for securing an electric fan. Ive had 3 like that and all ended up leaking and had to be repaired where the zip ties went thru. The Taurus fan will only cost $15 or so at a junk yard and a thermostatic relay maybe $30. That way you wont fry your ignition switch, and it wont take forever to warm up.

I used zip ties for my trans cooler and fan, but now that I have a new trans and trans cooler, I will try to fab up some straps to mount both to instead of the ties.

if you plan on having any horses i wouldnt use those, reason being i have TWO of that model on my truck trying to keep it cool and they cant keep up when im towing up a hill or through town. they work only ok on the truck when its empty on a hot day (95+). im considering converting it to the taurus fan, and have found that guys running blown big block chevys and fords are using the taurus fan on their rigs because they cool better than the "big dollar" electric aftermarket fans....
