First off guys, sorry I didn't make it to Cambridge on saturday. Never made it back from the falls till 5pm. We had nasty neighbours in the room beside us that seemed to think yelling and carrying on till 4am was appropiate. As for this Saturday coming, I could show up but there will not be a Comet. I'm saddened to say I've sold my car. Yes after 31 yrs of having a Comet in my stable, the barn will be empty. Not to say that I won't find another but "bucky" wasn't being treated right by being in the garage all the time. Hopefully it's new owner will treat it right, show it some daylight and drive 'er.
Anyway it's a long post and I have had a great time meeting you boys and sharing your zest and enthusiasm for your cars. This is a great community I have stumbled into and thank you all for your hospitality. I will keep tuned into this forum just to see what's happening in the future...:tiphat::(

Yeah that is a bummer, too bad your trip was not better also. About selling your Comet, you gotta do what ya gotta do my friend. Feel free to join us anytime we all get together ,[IMG] it makes no difference now that you no longer own a Maverick or Comet. Maybe some day you will get another. Keep in touch, hang around and don't be a stranger! Here's to "Bucky".

The irony in this is that the last time I took Bucky for a drive was the first time I have ever "showed" my car. Also as I said that night at Hooters, it was the first trip that car had been on since '98. I do not plan to leave this site. I enjoy it way to much and I already told the new owner that he NEEDS to join up with this forum. It is a resource of info, advice and parts that's invaluable for keeping our cars on the road. Also not to mention the crazies he can meet and befriend along the way. Ya never know, maybe I may show up this weekend, if it's happening, in the car one last time.

That would be great as i really did not get to see your Comet much more than to take those few pictures. I would like to see it one more time and see a little more detail, maybe take a few more pictures.(y)

Just curious why did you sell it? It looks like a great car!

It just wasn't seeing enough asphalt with me anymore. For the last 13 yrs all I have been doing with it was putting it in the garage for the summer. Maybe taking it out a couple times to keep everything lubricated and moving. Then storing it away in a barn for the winter. I bet I never put on 300 miles in those years. The man that bought it, worked with me, way back when I got "Bucky" in 96. He was the first to come up and ask if I would sell it to him back then. It is a great car, he's getting one of the most solid, unmolested, original paint, comets I have ever seen.

I can attest to that, truly a nice Comet, the guy who bought it should count his lucky stars cause he got himself a fantastic Comet indeed.

Thats funny you sold it the year you drove it the most.Don't want to be negitive but you WILL regret it no matter how much you tell yourself you wont.
I guess that's why i have 8 cars i never seem to be able to part with anything....getting a bit difficult to keep em all maintained though.

You don't have to tell me that. I regret it already and I still have it in MY garage. Saturday I have to hook up the reverse lights and get the horn to work for the safety. Adjust the lifters, take it for one last rip and then sit down and cry. It will be a sad, sad day indeed but not as sad as the day I hand the keys to the new owner. 33 yrs with a Comet.:cry::cry:

I almost pulled a Larry. Got the work done on saturday, set up the lifters again and went to Canadian Tire to get new bulbs for the reverse lights. Pulled ontot the street with the CTC and gave 'er. Got off it just in time because the was a policeman just turning onto the road coming at me. One thing about 4:11's, you get going quick and when you get off it, it slows quick. Dodged the bullet but got a nasty stare.
