Hey guys, is there a way I can find out what each of those wires does coming out of that square thing in the firewall? It's looking so cluttered and I'm tired of looking at it.

The square thing is where the wires for the front of your car attach to the wiring harness for the car. The purple wire with the yellow stripe, is the resistive wire that feeds the coil from the factory.

Close the hood and stop looking at them :p.
You need them so don't get too crazy with them. Might flat black them like Bryant said.

so what you car gurus are tellin me . . . if I have a problem under the hood I should approach it the following way:
    1) Identify problem (i.e. messy wires)
    2) Cover up problem by painting with flat black
    3) Resolve problem completely by closing hood

OK, got it! :rofl2:Now I know what to do with that pesky gas leak I've been having onto the hot manifold.

First thing I'll would do is take that blue splice connector off and splice that wire the correct way with srink wrap. Get a wiring diagram and it will tell you what and where each color wire goes. Wrap electrical tape around the wires to bundle them together.

If you want to clean it up, there are several ways to do it. You can partialy take the harness out (or all of it) and clean it and re-wrap it. To clean it you can use hand cleaner and shop rags and nylon brushes. Rinse thourly and blow dry them before wraping them with a quality tape. You could even use wire loom to further protect the wires. Try avoiding the urge to use yellows and reds etc. unless it goes with your under hood theme or componants. Red may look good anyway since you may have the flames theme soon anyway :biglaugh:
