I'm about to tackle my weatherstripping on the window and the door jamps and the trunk. So I'm pretty much redoing all the weatherseals except for the rear window and the front windshield. My question is, what do I need to know before tackling this and what toold besides the glue and the weatherstripping do I need?
3M Black weatherstip adhesive and some good 3/4" masking tape (to hold things in place while the glue dries) and some patience.Pay close attention to fasteners locations and types.(you may have to re-use a few of em)Sometimes the replacement stuff has incorrect fasteners.
Jack Daniels,wacky tobaccy. Also the info that if they are AK rubbers they are not an exact fit. The lower door seals are the biggest issue. They are about an inch too long and need to be cut and joned in the middle under the door. Start by temporarily attaching both ends to the door then work your way along to check the fit to see if they are still making them too long.
All the replacement weather stripping is made by one manufacturer, no matter where you buy it. So, it's just not the AK stuff...
Windsheild, and rear window gaskets are made by one company, the window felts, by another, and all the soft trim by either Daniel, or Scott Carpenter.
how much you think itll cost you to do it all? i plan on doing this soon as well just wanna have a price range in mind if you dont mind thanks!
Not all! So I got the kit for AK for like 400 is think. Its a lotta money but my car leaks all over. I can sip coffee in the driver's seat and have creamer drip into the trunk, its a mess.
Just take your time and trial fit before you get the glue out. I also had to change the location of a few push pins at the A pillar for the upper door seal. The spacing was off from the factory holes in the A-pillar.
I have a question about this little plastic trim piece. As you can see mine is coming off. So am I supposed to reuse that piece when I put in the door weatherstripping?
