Im having a starting problem with a 72 mav. Battery is charged. She tries to kick over but doesnt officially start. I just replaced the alternator belt but may have put it in the wrong place. I put it around the alternator and around the fan. Is that correct? any help would be great!

No. Could remove that belt altogether and it should still start.

Describe more what's goin on. Does it rotate but not fire up, or does it not turn over?

it rotates and sounds like its about to fire up but just stays there. The car has not been turned on for a couple of weeks and i didnt try to hard to turn her on could it just be i need to maybe get the fuel all the way down the line etc? there was no gas in her for that period of time and now she has fresh gas

oo hmm well right now i only have one belt on her connecting the fan pulley to the alt pulley. My main question was basically if i even needed the alt hooked up for it to start and i was sure i didnt but i just wanted another opinion. Thank you guys for the help =:thumbs2:
